When Fall 2020 hit and I was still working from home (since March 2020, due to the Coronavirus pandemic), I knew it was time to up my slippers game. I am always cold, and my cheap pair just wasn’t going to get me through a long Winter at home.

I settled on the L.L. Bean Wicked Good slippers and, upon receiving them, I found them to be true to size in terms of length, but a bit of a wider, looser fit overall versus a snug fit compared to my old UGG slippers. I love that this looser fit allows me to wear them with or without socks, like my Allbirds tree breezer flats.

They also mold to your foot over time and, with wear, they become a bit more cozy.

Sizing Tips: If you’re wondering whether to size up or down, L.L. Bean recommends that half sizes size up.

They keep my feet warm and comfortable all day (I am wearing them as I type this!), and I have never sweated in them to date.

To date, after three years of daily wear, I don’t have any seriously negative comments about my Women’s L.L. Bean Wicked Good slippers (really, not just saying it!).

In fact, after three full years of daily use, I recently ordered another pair. I felt that I could have gone a bit longer in them (my husband’s first pair lasted six years), but since I wear them so much, I decided to splurge.

Here is an image of what my second brand new pair looks like compare to my three year old pair:

Are they worth it?

Whether a product is worth it is always a subjective question. However, at the time of posting, 9,000+ reviewers gave them 5 out of 5 stars. Overall, they received an average rating of 4.6 out of 5 stars.

Given all of the above, I think they’re worth it.

  • They may be too wide for very narrow feet. (They come in medium and wide.)
  • Laces can come untied. (I double-knot mine to prevent this, and my husband dotted the tie with super glue.)
  • The suede can spot. (I spray them new with Crep Shoe Protector, then spot-treat them with rubbing alcohol.)
  • Should not be machine-washed.

How to Clean L.L. Bean Wicked Good Slippers

I always spray new suede shoes with Crep Shoe Protector, which helps a ton.

Before I knew about this spray, I did get a small stain on the suede (I think it was maple syrup) and, upon conducting some Google research, I rubbed some rubbing alcohol over the area and the stain came right out. Phew!

I have since been using a cotton ball and rubbing alcohol for touch-ups on mine.

L.L. Bean recommends that you only spot-clean your L.L. Bean Wicked Good slippers.

UGG vs. L.L. Bean Slippers

Before my years of wearing L.L. Bean Wicked Good slippers, I wore UGG slippers for about three to five years.

They are very similar overall, and they are both very good choices, in my honest opinion. Both are well-made and very durable, and they are the only two brands of slippers I recommend in terms of longevity and durability.

The biggest difference is that my UGG slipper felt more like a shoe, and my L.L. Bean Wicked Good slippers feel more like a slipper. I personally prefer this cozy fit for both working from home and lounging on the weekends.

UGG slippers can also be a bit more expensive.

I recently purchased new slippers and chose a second pair of L.L. Bean Wicked Good slippers instead of UGG slippers. So, based on both comfort and price, they are now my top choice.

L.L. Bean Wicked Good slippers are the bestselling slippers that last years and keep you warm and cozy all year round. Consumers like me also love that they can be worn outside and are cheaper than their competitors. We’ve worn them for up to six years per pair and like millions of other buyers, we think they’re the “best slippers ever made.”

  1. LlBean slippers used to be very good. Mine lasted 5-10 years, but they must have a new supplier. The furry lining is much thinner and clumps up under your foot. The stitching is very poor and the sole separates from the sides. My latest pair is only about a year old and it’s toast. Certainly not worth the price.

  2. Are they in wide size?

    1. Yes, they do come in wide. The medium width is fairly wide as well.

  3. These sound great!! I love this review x
