Artisan’s Acuity is a reagent that is tied into all professions, serving as a core material for many highly sought-after items. The War Within also introduces special vendors that have Artisan’s Acuity as the main currency for the items being sold, offering players many valuable recipes and items.
Acquisition
Artisan’s Acuity can be acquired in four different ways, with some of the methods being far easier than others!
The four methods to acquire Artisan’s Acuity are:
- First Crafts
- Quests
- Patron (NPC) Crafting Orders
- Profession Treasures and Treaties (Profession Knowledge)
While the methods can lead to an Artisan’s Acuity farm that can last for quite some time, only one method has the potential for infinite farming, namely the Patron (NPC) Crafting Orders. It’s important to mention that Artisan’s Acuity is Soulbound and can’t be traded in between characters. This means that the new Warbound feature doesn’t work on the item, even if you attempt to add Artisan’s Acuity to your Warband Bank.
First Crafts
The first and foremost method of acquiring Artisan’s Acuity is by completing the Profession “First Crafts”. This method by far can lead to the highest amount of Artisan’s Acuity in the shortest amount of time! The War Within continues the overhaul for Professions that occurred in Dragonflight, with every profession now having “First Craft” properties attached to their recipes. All “First Crafts” will have a guaranteed reward, however, not all “First Crafts” award Artisan’s Acuity.
You will generally receive Profession Knowledge in the respective profession that you use for the “First Crafts”, but you will only receive Artisan’s Acuity upon completing “First Crafts” that are related to recipes that you acquire outside of the ones taught by Profession Trainers. This means that you will only gain Artisan’s Acuity from recipes that you acquire from vendors, Profession Experimentations, and recipes taught by spending Profession Knowledge.
For those that are unfamiliar with the term “Profession Experimentations”, the term refers to recipes that can be earned by completing a “First Craft” of another recipe from the same profession. Some clear examples would be the Profession Treaties that you can craft with Inscription, with each of them giving u a chance to learn a new recipe from the same category.
Two easy examples we can offer of easy-to-farm recipes that can help you gain both Profession Knowledge and Artisan’s Acuity are the Inscription: Profession Treaties and Enchanting: Gleeful Glamour!
Quests
The War Within features a single quest that can offer you Artisan’s Acuity. The quest can be picked up right after reaching Dornogal, even at level 70, and can be completed on any number of characters that you have, rewarding you with 350 x Artisan’s Acuity alongside other goodies depending on the satchel that you choose. Each satchel will guarantee 350 x Artisan’s Acuity, so there is no wrong choice!
The quest is called Crafting to Order and can be acquired from Roldira in Crafter’s Enclave in Dornogal. The quest requires you to talk to Clerk Ardan, who can be found right in front of Roldira to learn more about Crafting Orders.
Patron (NPC) Crafting Orders
The War Within adds an additional feature to the Crafting Orders system, namely the Patron (NPC) Crafting Orders. You will be able to complete 10 of those new Crafting Orders per week, with each crafting order giving you a reward. While all Crafting Orders will offer you rewards, only some of them will offer you Artisan’s Acuity as a reward. Since the only limit to the Patron (NPC) Crafting Orders is the weekly limit, you will be able to generate Artisan’s Acuity throughout the entirety of the expansion through this method, effectively allowing you to endlessly farm the item.
Beware, however, that the Patron (NPC) Crafting Orders work similarly to the normal Crafting Orders, meaning that some of the resources will be provided by the NPCs while the rest will have to be provided by yourself.
Profession Treasures & Treaties (Profession Knowledge)
Lastly, Artisan’s Acuity may also be gained from Profession Treasures scattered all around Khaz Algar and from Profession Treaties crafted with Inscription! Each time you study a Profession Treasure or a Profession Treaty, you will earn 5 x Artisan’s Acuity. While it is possible to earn a large amount of Artisan’s Acuity through acquiring Profession Knowledge, the amount of Artisan’s Acuity that you can acquire is finite, as you can only earn a limited amount of Profession Knowledge.
Using Artisan’s Acuity
The first and foremost most important use of Artisan’s Acuity is for mid-tier and high-end recipes! A large number of recipes will require a considerable amount of Artisan’s Acuity, with some recipes requiring even 300 x Artisan’s Acuity.
As mentioned previously, Artisan’s Acuity is also used as a currency for different vendors in The War Within. The main vendor that you can use to exchange Artisan’s Acuity for items and recipes is Lyrendal, the Artisan’s Consortium Quartermaster. He can be found inside the Crafter’s Enclave in Dornogal.
Artisan’s Acuity may also be used to purchase recipes and Profession Knowledge from several other quartermasters such as:
- Auditor Balwurz – Dornogal
- Auralia Steelstrike – Mereldar
- Kama – City of Threads
- Llyot – City of Threads
- Alvus Valavulu – City of Threads
- Waxmonger Squick – Gundargaz
