Next Generation Endoscopy - Else Kröner Fresenius Center for Digital Health (2024)

Shaping the future of endoscopy

Endoscopy has transformed gastrointestinal disease diagnosis and treatment through minimally invasive procedures using flexible endoscopes and endoscopic capsules. Our interdisciplinary team of physicians, engineers, and computer scientists is advancing this field.

Our innovations include radar endoscopy for non-contact tissue visualization, intelligent sedation methods, and advanced AI for improved diagnosis and treatment. Additionally, we focus on teaching with new simulator- and software-based methods.

Our comprehensive approach covers diseases, treatment, endoscopy mechanics, image recognition, signal processing, tissue sampling, training simulators, and new technical procedures.

Funded by

Next Generation Endoscopy is also part of the Cluster4Future SEMECO. The Free State of Saxony is additionally funding this project.

Next Generation Endoscopy - Else Kröner Fresenius Center for Digital Health (15)

We participated in the first Innovate-a-thon, organized by EKFZ and Telekom MMS, where attendees tackled clinical data challenges in medicine. Our group offered hands-on experience in endoscopy, networked, and presented our work. This event provided a platform for collaboration and showcasing advancements in medical technology.

We are pleased to welcome Maxime Le Floch and Jonas to the Next Generation Endoscopy team. As graduates of Dresden Medical School, they are now beginning their specialization in Internal Medicine with a focus on Gastroenterology.

Maxime and Jonas will be working on the enDDo.AI project, which aims to improve endoscopy video analysis using artificial intelligence. Their knowledge and enthusiasm for integrating AI into medical practice will be key in developing algorithms to enhance diagnostic accuracy and efficiency.

We look forward to their contributions in advancing our efforts to improve patient care through innovative medical technology.
