Freshmen Students

If you've never attended a university, community college or technical school after graduating from high school, then you're considered to be a freshman student. The following checklist gives you everything you'll need to successfully apply to McNeese.

Start Application Process


Application Steps

Submit your official ACT or SAT scores to McNeese directly from the testing agency. McNeese's ACT school code is 1594 and SAT school code is 6403.
Submit your high school transcripts directly to McNeese. If you attended any college courses while enrolled in high school, submit transcripts from those institutions as well
Home schooled students: Submit a copy of your home school transcripts and Home School State Approval letter.
Out-of-state high school students: Have your high school submit your transcript to McNeese, and then your final transcript after you graduate.

After You Apply

After you receive notification your application has been processed, pay a nonrefundable $20 application fee.
Submit Proof of Immunization Compliance Form
(Males ages 18-25) Submit proof of selective service registration.
(Optional) Apply for financial aid and scholarships at fafsa.gov. McNeese's FAFSA school code is 002017.
(Optional) Apply for on-campus housing at www.mcneesereslife.com.
(Optional) Purchase a commuter or residence campus dining meal plan at www.dineoncampus.com/mcneese.

Transfer

Whether you've previously attended a community college or another university, have numerous credits or just a few classes under your belt, McNeese has everything you need to achieve your personal and professional goals. Transferring to a new university can seem daunting, but the information and resources you'll find here will help make your transition to McNeese a smooth one.

Application Steps

Submit official college transcripts from all institutions attended directly to McNeese.
If you have earned fewer than 60 college-level academic hours, submit your high school or home-school transcripts directly to McNeese.
If you have earned fewer than 18 college-level academic hours, submit your official ACT or SAT scores directly to McNeese from the testing agency. McNeese's ACT school code is 1594 and SAT school code is 6403.

International

International Students

McNeese is happy to welcome over 400 international students representing 40 countries every year. If you are a citizen of another country seeking enrollment at McNeese, follow the checklist below to apply. If you are a DACA immigrant, pending/granted asylum seeker or permanent resident, or if you are an international student that graduated from a U.S. high school, head over to the Freshmen tab for your application steps.

Application Steps

Pay a nonrefundable $30 application fee after you receive notification that your application has been processed.
Have your ACT or SAT scores sent to McNeese directly from the testing agency. If you can't provide ACT or SAT scores, you can demonstrate readiness for college-level math in one of the ways provided on this chart, or take the Accuplacer remotely.
Have your transcripts or mark sheets sent to McNeese directly from your high school. The Office of International Programs will calculate your GPA.
Submit your official TOEFL or IELTS score to McNeese. If you can't provide TOEFL or IELTS scores, you can demonstrate English proficiency in one of the ways outlined in our admission requirements.
Submit a copy of your passport
Submit a signed affidavit and bank letter from your sponsor.

After You Apply:

(Optional) Apply for on-campus housing at www.mcneesereslife.com.
(Optional) Purchase a commuter or residence campus dining meal plan at www.dineoncampus.com/mcneese.

Applications that are received after the deadline may not be processed in time for admission or scholarship consideration. Be sure to allow at least two months before the application deadline for visa request, issuance and travel.

A final admissions decision cannot be made until the McNeese Office of International Programs has received all required official transcripts, forms, documents and exam scores. After you're approved for admission to McNeese and issued an I-20 form, you will need to file a student visa application.
